The Garden Hive Cut-Out and Repair Bar
The Garden Hive Cut-Out and Repair Bar is a multi-purpose device we developed when a newly introduced package of bees had problems drawing straight comb. We recalled a special Langstroth frame we had used when helping our bee mentor Wally work a cut-out, the term used when referring to the removal of a honey bee colony from a place it is not wanted, generally inside the wall of a building, so we devised a hinged and framed top bar laced with brass wire that makes short work of hiving a cut out or saving wayward comb. We like to call it a Wally Bar, just because it makes us smile. You will smile too, especially if you have ever tried to tie or hair-clip sticky comb onto a top bar.
